"Girls Who Wear Glasses" by Anne Nejri Growing up is hard enough, navigating friendship, school and parents. But when Mira has to get glasses, it is the last straw. As she deals with old friends who are suddenly only interested in popularity and new friends who want her to be more like them, Mira has to decide who she really wants to be. With the help of her glasses, she starts to see clearly in more ways than one, as she learns to stand up for herself in this humorous story about fitting in, friendship and frames. Young People's Theatre is seeking a cast between 4-7 girls, 5th-8th grade. Auditions will be held Monday, August 25th, 4:00 pm and Tuesday, August 26th, 4:00 pm at Walker Hall, Capitol Theatre, 415 S. Main Street. No experience needed. No need to prepare. Tentative show dates: September 26th-27th, 7:30 pm; Sunday, September 28th, 2:30 pm Scripts will be available soon. Scripts are available for 48 hours from either the ACT’s office or the K.O. One of the world’s most beloved musicals, featuring cherished songs including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and of course, “THE SOUND OF MUSIC” itself. The inspirational story, based on the real-life von Trapp family singers, follows a Governess, a Baron, and seven children as they grow together in music and joy, before confronting the danger of Nazism as it expands into their beloved Austria. Director’s note: actors do not need to match the recommended ages exactly, provided they can play the suggested age. If no age is specified, the role is open to any adult actor. This is the saga of men and women over “a certain age” with divorce on their hands, gravity on their bodies, grandchildren on their self-images, and the dating scene on their egos. From empty-nesting to retirement, from divorce to grandparenting and more… THE KIDS LEFT. THE DOG DIED. NOW WHAT? is a humorous and heartfelt take on mid-life challenges. This musical comedy is ACT’s Dinner Theatre selection for 2025, with 10 performances. Aberdeen Community Theatre is looking to cast up to 8 adults - 4 men, 4 women Age 40+ preferred, or anyone who can play older Scripts & scores available for 48 hour checkout from the ACT office, 417 S. YPT wishes to thank EVERYONE who auditioned for the show - there was such a huge turnout and so much talent on stage the past two nights! We wish we could cast everyone. Ultimately, there were more than twice as many actors than available roles, and that meant the director had difficult decisions to make. We thank you for sharing your time and talents with us, and we hope to see you at our next YPT audition.

As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly-discovered powers he can't control, a destiny he doesn't want, and multiple monsters hot on his trail. When Zeus's lightning bolt is stolen, Percy must travel to the Underworld and back, solve the Oracle’s riddle, and prevent a war between the gods. THE LIGHTNING THIEF musical is adapted from the best-selling book of the same name by Rick Riordan and features a thrilling rock score. Aberdeen Community Theatre's Young People's Theatre is looking to cast 15-20 students between 6th and 12th grade, 2 adult men, and 1-2 adult women for this mythological rock musical. ACT is a member of the American Association of Community Theatres (AACT). During odd-numbered years (2023, 2025, etc.), AACT hosts a play festival called AACTFest, which is comprised of state, regional, and national levels. Our region, Region V, includes seven states: Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
