< Back March 1-5, 2023 Didn't See That Coming ACT/AACTfest Season Show “Didn’t See That Coming” is an evening of plays about fortune and fate, featuring ordinary people in not-so-ordinary situations. Scenes take place in settings that include a bedroom, a rooftop, a breakfast table, and a restaurant. The action includes superhero lessons, kissing, breaking up and making up. The characters and stories all are varied but one thing’s the same: the endings will surprise you! “Didn’t See That Coming” will be Aberdeen Community Theatre’s entry for AACTFest 2023.

Young actors give twenty-three lessons in such subjects as how to beg for a dog, how to torture your sister, how to act after being sent to your room, and how to laugh hysterically. The songs are charming, the pace is fast, and the jokes are delightful. “How to Eat Like a Child” is based on the Viking book of the same name by beloved author Delia Ephron.

Beth, a big city news reporter, suddenly inherits the Evergreen Inn in Christmasville, Canada – it’s a bed and breakfast with a tree farm. Can Santa, St. Agnes, an elf, and a hunky, plaid-clad tree farmer help Beth pursue her true passion of baking - and regain her Christmas spirit along the way? Bet you can guess the answer! But can you catch all the fast-paced holiday movie tropes and references? You might be too busy laughing!

< Back September 27-29 & October 2-8, 2023 Murder at Cafe Noir ACT Season/Dinner Theatre Enjoy food and drinks during ACT’s first dinner theatre production in decades! This 1940s detective story features Rick Archer, P.I., out to find a curvaceous runaway on the forgotten island of Mustique, a place stuck in a black-and-white era. The owner of the Cafe Noir has washed ashore, murdered, and Rick’s quarry was the last person seen with him. Rick employs his hard-boiled talents to find the killer. Was it the French madame and club manager, the voodoo priestess, the shyster British attorney, the black marketeer, or the femme fatale? The audience votes twice on what they want Rick to do next, and these decisions can affect the outcome of the play!

At least, they will… if their jobs will ever let them be in the same city at the same time. “For Better” is a hilarious farce that pokes fun at our overdependence on the gadgets in our lives and explores whether, in the high-tech world of texting, email, and camera phones, a bride and groom actually need to be in the same country, at the same time, to tie the knot!

< Back June 6-11, 2023 9 to 5 The Musical ACT Summer Musical “9 to 5 The Musical,” with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the 1980 hit movie in which three unlikely friends take control of their office and prove there is nothing they can’t do – even in a man’s world. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, hilarious, and through-provoking. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While he remains otherwise engaged, the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can't she?
